Week 5 Story: Unfaithful and Pregnant

UNFAITHFUL AND PREGNANT
RAMA'S WIFE SITA BANISHED TO FOREST

Earlier today local celebrity Sita was seen being taken away by a royal servant. As we all remember, last year Sita was cast away for her unfaithfulness to the hottie with a body, Rama. Since then, she has been living with Rama, but we all know there’s trouble at home and the pregnancy has not mended any wounds. Some readers suspect he is just banishing her because of social pressures by the public, but we disagree. This is obviously due to her inadequacies as a wife. And hold on to your seats folks because sources tell us the baby she is carrying IS NOT RAMA’S.

Once she was dropped off, sources say she was a mess. One witness even went so far as to say she may need a mental health professional. All we can say is it serves her right to do what she did to our beloved Rama. I mean does anyone remember that time he fought that rakshasa and he took his shirt off? OW OW am I right ladies?? How Sita could ever willingly leave and even cheat on Rama is beyond us. Later on we’ll be speaking with our reporter at the forest Sita has been banished.

What can you tell us Lindsay, “Well it doesn’t look good out here. Sita has resorted to lying by a lake with this weird looking bird and waiting for death. She keeps on singing about how Rama LEFT HER. Completely delusional.” Wow that’s a lot of take in. Sita has always been the pretty one. The popular celeb of choice. But who knew she was so unstable?? We’re sure Rama is living it up without this pregnant ball and chain. “Exactly. She seems very depressed and is still singing. I’ll keep you posted on my end.” Perfect! Let’s go over to Sam now who has a juicy new interview with Rama’s housekeeper.

Author's Note:
After watching the movie, which I absolutely loved, and reading the article about Storytelling Ideas, I knew I had to go with a tabloid.  My favorite scenes were definitely the ones in this style where she is sining, so I chose the part where Rama banishes her. This seemed like a perfect Us Weekly/Gossip Magazine piece and I had a lot of fun with it. It sort of turned into a live interview at the end like a gossip news show, but I think overall it hit the mark.

  1. Hey Lindsay,

This is a fun adaptation-of-the-adapation (oof, too many layers here!). You got that trashy tabloid style pretty well. I think this is particularly cool as a (modernized) version of the sort of court gossip that we're told caused Rama to send Sita away in the first place.

It would be cool (though way beyond the initial assignment) if you did up a fake Us Weekly/The Sun cover for this, complete with the dumb headlines, weird fonts, and those little bubbles that say "Exclusive!". Just a thought :).

    Best,
    A.

  2. Lindsay,

Wow! You did such a great job on your tabloid based story. It really got my attention. It honestly reminded me of a lot of the shows that I enjoy watching. I am really attracted to dramatic movies and shows, so you putting a spin on the issues Rama and Sita were having is just as good as the bachelor lol. I also liked how you used different perspectives to make the gossip even juicier. From Rama supposedly feeling pressure to banish her and Sita's suggested mental health issues, the story really captivated that portion of "Sita Sings the Blues" from a completely different light. Well done!

  3. Hi Lindsay,

Firstly, I loved your story! I like the tabloid set-up and how it was still immersive in the story. Are you planning on continuing the story from different perspectives?? I honestly got to the end of your story and wished that there was more to read. I do also enjoy how they mentioned Sita singing by a lake with a bird because not many tabloids cover those smaller details.
