Reading Notes: Inayat. Twenty Jataka Tales, Part B

The End of the World

So the line that got me initially was. This tiny bunny is hanging out. and the author asks what the reader thinks the bunny is thinking about. AND THEN. THE NARRATOR SAYS THE BUNNY IS THINKING. "What will happen to me when the earth comes to an end?" AND I WAS JUST LIKE DAMN. TINY BUNNY. SAME. This poor little rabbit is having a moment of existential dread and then this stupid fruit falls so he panics and runs away. Over time, his terror convinces countless species to run with him and all because the world is ending. This bad-ass lion finally stops all of them and saves them from drowning. He takes the bunny back to the tree and the bunny sees it was just the sound of fruit falling. The story ends with they all lived happily ever after but I certainly do not think this bunny, who already had anxiety, experienced this and was like cool man back to life. He probably stayed awake at night over convincing hundreds of people that the world is ending.
