Reading Notes: PDE Mahabharata, Section B

Stream of consciousness:
So to begin the story, the photo did not do much explaining for me at all. The story of Bhima and Hidimba piqued my attention because of the rakshasas (obviously) and because of the representation of women (obviously). So basically what happens is this dude, Bhima, goes into this forest. Hidimba, a rakshasa, lives in the forest and immediately smells these juicy humans. Then, because he is a helpless man, he sends his sister to go fetch the humans or something like that. Then, because women are helpless and always scoping and hoping, his sister falls for Bhima. She transforms herself into a pretty human and tries to woo him. Then, because men have fragile masculinity and very little self-control, he refuses her help in fleeing and decides it'd be better to just fight Hidimba........ Okay. So he fights him and that's about where the story ends. In the next story Bhima and the sister end up getting married and having a kid, so at least it sort of ends happy for them?
